Up for bid is one of the rarest jeeps ever offered in pristine condition.  A 1965 CJ-6a Mark Iv Tuxedo Park.  With only 460 of these made back in the 60's, this Jeep Cj-6a is extremely rare and highly collectible.   This is probably for a serious jeep collector .   This jeep just had a frame up restoration and most of everything was overhauled or replaced.  This jeep was built as a trailer queen for a large car show in Reno but I have since started with another car project.  Some of the highlights include;

Body and frame have the matching Tuxedo Park Vin #8422-10063

Engine completely overhauled by Keesler’s automotive specializing in the Hurricane F134

Transmission T90 SIDESHIFT (rare) and DANA 18 Tcase built by Herm the Overdrive Guy

Restored original Sidewinder winch (retro and complements the jeep for the era)

Paint is the best PPG and matched to original White cap color.

Body work and paint was professionally completed at a body shop.

Brand new 33” Goodyear Duratrac tires

Registered in California

This jeep spent its life in dry Nevada.  After discovering the Jeep, I did an overnighter and trailered it back to California.  Inside the glove box, I found over 40 annual State Farm Insurance cards indicating that one owner owned it most of its lift.  This tuxedo park came with a column shift “three on the tree” shifter.  This was a sloppy way of shifting and was later replaced in later models.

This jeep had the half cab and hard doors.  I will include them but they are not restored (see original Jeep picture, makes its very cool looking).  There are a few holes in the windshield to accommodate this hardtop.

This jeep runs and drives like a 1965 jeep.  It’s probably like riding in a cement truck if could imagine.  Jeeps were designed for function, not comfort back then.

Information about the Tuxedo Park http://blog.kaiserwillys.com/a-brief-history-of-the-tuxedo-park

 “If you suspect you may have one of these models, check the prefix of your vehicle’s VIN tag. The CJ-5A Tuxedo Park Mark IV has a prefix of “8322″, while the CJ-6A Tuxedo Park Mark IV has a prefix of “8422″.

Unfortunately, this model never gained the popularity that was hoped for, and only approximately 460 of the CJ-6A models were ever produced, making them a rare find for those in the market. If you have a  Park Mark IV, it is much more likely that yours is one of the CJ-5A models. While these vehicles did not capture the undivided attention of the masses, they were a valid attempt at becoming something “more” than what Jeep® appeared to be in 1960, and opened the door for other models that were to come”

Inspection

The vehicle is located in Bishop, California.  Bishop is located between Reno and Los Angeles.  This jeep is available for inspection anytime and I would prefer you take a look so there are no surprises because I want you to be happy.  This jeep is being sold as is.

Payment

A $500 non-refundable must be made immediately after completion.  The balance must be paid within 72 hours upon pickup, cash preferred.  Auction is for US bidders as I WILL NOT accept foreign bidders due to fraud.  I can hold the vehicle here for a couple weeks (please prearrange) until your method of transport arrives
